Crossroads
Unsurprisingly, a crossroad is where two roads cross eachother.
It is extemely rare in London to see unmarked crossroads. At these you MAY NOT ASSUME priority. Try to make eye contact with the other road users, to negotiate your turn.
Similarly, at broken traffic lights you MAY NOT assume priority. If there is a power cut at the lights then treat the stop line as a give way line.
At marked crossroads look for give-way lines. Hazard warning lines may also indicate the need for caution.
Traffic on the minor roads must give way to traffic on the major road.
Multi lane traffic lights
Turning left
Look out for filter lanes and filter lights.
If the traffic light is boot shaped then you may assume that there is a filter lane. Stay awake. The left arrow may appear allowing you to turn left.
Going straight

At multi lane traffic lights use the left lane to go straight ahead, unless signs (like this one) tell you otherwise, or unless you are overtaking a slower vehicle.
